One of the main achievements of the NIVA UC1b on monitoring is the development of a set of tools to compute agro-environmental indicators about the CO2 flux due to crop vegetation cycle (impact on climate change), risk of nitrate lixiviation (impact on water quality) and biodiversity.

These indicators have been computed at least at Tier 1 level, i.e. using simple scientific methods and source data that is widely and publicly available – mainly IACS and Sentinel data.

The tools have been tested on a few areas in Europe. The output results of these computations, i.e. the agro-environmental indicators at Tier 1, have been recently published as open research data, on the Zenodo platform. Additional information, like data specification document for each indicator is provided as well. You can also find a quality report for carbon indicator and a digital atlas providing examples of cartographic representation of the carbon indicator results.

The published data are freely accessible to everyone, targeting mainly researchers or students. The published results can be used for further analysis or valorization (i.e. using them as input for other process, for instance mapping, analyzing the influence of other data such as soil…).
